The Rockford General Store

Rockford, NCThe little village of Rockford once was the county seat of Surry County serving many people in the area, entering into Rockford you will spot many historic buildings like the beautifully preserved Rockford Methodist Church, The Mark York Tavern that has some civil war history to it, Rockford Park a now unique sitting area that once used to be a popular hotel, and a Rockford Railway express building that once ran.

What makes Rockford stand out is The Rockford General Store believed to be built in the 1890’s with its rustic wood floors, antiques & collectibles, nostalgic soda coolers with a large selection of soda pop bottle flavors, and great variety of old-fashioned candies. They also have a cooking kitchen to grab a hot dog, burger, or sandwich for lunch. Oh, but the desserts are to die for, with the popular warm sonkers, cinnamon buns, fudge, and fried pies it is definitely a neat place to visit.

So, if you’re in the area pop on by The Rockford General Store, say Hi to the owner Paul Carter (let him know Byrds Branch sent you), and hear about all the stories of this cute little village that takes you back in time when life ran a bit slower!
