Spring Maintenance and Opening Day Tips
Make Your First Camping Trip of the Season a Success
Spring is finally here—and that means it’s time to dust off the camper, air out the tents, and get back to campground life. Whether this is your first trip of the year or your very first camping experience, a little preparation goes a long way.
Here are our top tips to help you start the season stress-free and ready for fun.
Spring Maintenance Must-Dos
Before pulling out of the driveway, take a few minutes to check these basics:
✅ Inspect tires (pressure + cracks from winter storage)
✅ Test lights, brakes, and turn signals
✅ Check batteries (RV & camper batteries love to surprise people)
✅ Flush water lines and sanitize fresh water tanks
✅ Restock essentials (toilet paper, propane, first aid kit)
Pro tip: Do a short “test night” at home if it’s been a while since your last trip.
Opening Day Arrival Tips
Opening weekends are exciting—and a little busy! Help things go smoothly by:
- Arriving during check-in hours
- Having your reservation info ready
- Knowing your campsite number (if assigned)
- Taking a quick walk-through of campground rules & quiet hours
The goal is for everyone to feel relaxed and welcome from the moment they arrive at the campground.
First Camping Trip Success Tips
If you’re new to camping (or bringing a first-timer with you), keep it simple:
- Pack layers—spring weather can change fast
- Plan easy meals (foil packs, hot dogs, one-pan dinners)
- Bring extra socks & blankets
- Don’t over-schedule—camping is about slowing down
- Ask for help! Campground neighbors are usually the friendliest people around
Campground Courtesy Reminders
A few small things help everyone enjoy their stay:
- Respect quiet hours
- Keep pets leashed
- Fully extinguish campfires

Cooking at Camp:

Blueberry Banana Pancakes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 banana sliced into ¼-inch pieces
- ½ cup blueberries
- coconut oil
- Maple syrup, jam, butter or honey
Instructions:
- At home, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a small sealed container.
- In camp, whisk the egg and milk together in a bowl with a fork. Add the dry ingredients and stir to combine, taking care not to over mix (some small lumps in the batter are okay).
- Heat a non-stick skillet on your camp stove over medium low heat. Add one tablespoon of coconut oil to the skillet and swirl to coat the pan. Place a few banana slices in the pan, then cover with ¼ cup of batter per pancake and sprinkle some blueberries onto each pancake.
- Cook for a few minutes until the tops begin to bubble and the sides are set, two or three minutes. Using a spatula, flip the pancakes and cook the other side until golden.
- Repeat with the rest of the batter, adding additional coconut oil into the pan as needed.
- To serve, stack the pancakes and top with maple syrup, jam, butter, or honey.
