Golden Road Vineyards

Goldenroad VineyardGolden Road Vineyards is Surry County’s newest winery! Coming in at #20 in the county, it is one of the newest in North Carolina. 5 acres of vines planted on rolling hills with gorgeous mountain views, the tasting room opened Thanksgiving weekend 2020. The Varietals consist of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Petit Manseng, Traminette, and new to 2022 will be the Crimson Cabernet Chad and Crista are the owners– Chad is a Navy Submarine veteran and Crista is a proud native Texan. While they met in Washington DC, both are world travelers and globe trotted their way into wine drinking. Chad was stationed in Naples and that got him into drinking wine. He started making wine as a hobby when he got out of the Navy and getting his MBA at Penn State. Crista started drinking wine in Spain. After getting married, they spent their honeymoon on a wine tour drinking Latin American varietals such as Malbec, Carmenere, Tannat.

After getting back from the honeymoon, they took wine making classes at Charlottesville wineries in Virginia’s Monticello wine region. They were looking to stay in Virginia but fell in love at first sight with Golden Road Vineyards. It was just put on the market and was everything they were looking for to start a new life and a family here in North Carolina.

They are happy to call State Road / Mountain Park area their home and claim Elkin as home. Golden Road Vineyards has entered their wine in over a dozen wine competitions across the country and won bronze, silver, and gold medals all around.

Golden Road Vineyards is known for live music and food trucks and pop-up events in the tasting room year-round. The owners are major foodies and like to do dessert / wine pairing events often, as well. During the month of February, you’ll see their wine infused truffles paired with their wines.
